As the deadline approaches, we’ve been getting many questions about the application process!  Here’s a few of the most frequent topics, please read through before contacting Music BC directly!

***Please note these pages are best viewed in FireFox and Safari, if you are having problems applying using Internet Explorer try switching browsers.***

1) Trouble submitting form / has my application been received?

If you have having difficulties completing the application, please check the following:

  • you are uploading the requested file types (mp3’s for music, jpg photos, etc)  If your word documents aren’t working try them as a Notepad file, or a different version of Word.
  • the file sizes aren’t too large (resize large photos, all files should be less than 5 MB)
  • you have filled in all fields with correct information (a working url link for your video and website)
  • wait at the upload page until you receive a message saying “thank you for your application”, do not move away from the page until you receive that message.
  • once it has successfully been completed you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you provided in the application.   It may be caught by spam filters, so check your Junk Folder as well.
  • If you are still encountering difficulties, wait a while before trying again, try a different browser, then a computer with a faster internet connection.
  • If you do not see the thank you  message or receive the confirmation email then we likely did NOT receive the application and you should try again until those messages appear.

2) What should my video look like?

  • The main concern for the video is that it is a live performance. It could be from a performance, a rehearsal, or you in your living room.
  • The material doesn’t have to be the same as the songs you submit as Mp3’s, but should ideally still be original material (not cover songs).
  • The length isn’t specified, but do take into consideration that the judges my not see the whole thing, so focus on the first minute or so highlighting your act.

3) When is the bootcamp?

The Bootcamp will be taking place August 26th – September 2nd, 2009. Applicants must be available for the entire duration.

4) How do I submit the residency and other required forms?

You do not have to provide proof of residency with your application, however we reserve the right to request them at any point of the competition.

For underage applicants, parents must email their letters of consent to applications@peakperformanceproject.com  (please note all applicants must be a minimum of 15 at time of application.)

Regarding the Artist agreement forms, by checking the appropriate box you agree that you have read and accept the terms, and will be required to sign those forms if you proceed further in the contest.
